# 6th August - Connecting Your Wallet for External Withdrawals

External withdrawals on NodeLink now use a **connected wallet** instead of a manually typed address. Connect once, and NodeLink auto-fills your destination for every future external withdrawal.

| Quick Reference                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       |

## What’s Changed

The only change is how your withdrawal destination gets set. Fees, limits, OTP verification, and processing time are all exactly the same.

<table data-search="false"><thead><tr><th></th><th>Before</th><th>Now</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Setting a withdrawal address</strong></td><td>Typed or pasted address each time</td><td>Auto-filled from your connected wallet</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Editing the address field</strong></td><td>Freely editable</td><td>Locked - change it by connecting a different wallet</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Changing your destination</strong></td><td>Type a different address</td><td><strong>My Wallet → Change Wallet</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Prerequisites for withdrawing</strong></td><td>Membership + KYC + 2FA</td><td>Membership + KYC + 2FA + <strong>a connected wallet</strong></td></tr><tr><td><strong>Fees, limits, OTP, processing time</strong></td><td>As per the applicable terms</td><td>No change as part of this update; applicable as per the applicable terms</td></tr></tbody></table>

{% hint style="info" %}
**Why the change?**  \
Typing or pasting the wrong address is the most common way people lose assets- and those transfers are irreversible. By connecting your wallet directly, NodeLink fills in the destination for you, so funds can only go to an address you’ve proven you control.
{% endhint %}

## Step 1: Connect Your Wallet (One-Time Setup)

Do this once from the My Wallet page. You won’t need to repeat it unless you want to use a different wallet.

1. **Go to My Wallet.** If no wallet is connected, you’ll see: “No wallet connected. Connect a wallet to enable external withdrawals.”
2. **Tap Connect Wallet.** A wallet picker opens with support for:

* **MetaMask**
* **Coinbase Wallet**

Supported networks: **Arbitrum, Polygon**

3. Select your wallet and approve the connection in your wallet app.
4. Your wallet will prompt you to sign a short verification message.

{% hint style="success" %}
**This is free.** &#x20;

Signing the message is not a transaction - no gas is charged and no funds move. It simply proves you own the wallet.
{% endhint %}

5. You’ll see *“Wallet connected successfully.”* The card updates to show your address (e.g. 0x1234…abcd) and a **Change Wallet** button.

Your wallet is now set as your external withdrawal destination.

## Step 2: Making an External Withdrawal

The flow is the same as before - the destination address is just already filled in for you.

#### If you haven’t connected a wallet yet

The External Withdraw page shows a “**Connect Wallet Required**” banner and the withdrawal steps are greyed out. Tap **Go to My Wallet** to complete setup first, then return to withdraw.

#### Once your wallet is connected

1. Go to **Withdraw** → **External Withdraw**.
2. A banner confirms: “*Wallet connected - external withdrawals will be sent to \[your address].*”
3. The **Withdraw** To field is pre-filled and locked. This is intentional.
4. Choose your **asset**, **network**, and **amount**.
5. Review the fees, then confirm with your **authenticator (OTP) code**.

Standard processing takes **up to 72 hours**, same as before.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** This applies to external withdrawals only (sending assets off-platform). Deposits, swaps, and sending to other NodeLink members by NID are not affected by this update.
{% endhint %}

## Changing Your Connected Wallet

You can switch your withdrawal destination, to a different wallet, at any time.

1. Go to **My Wallet**.
2. Tap **Change Wallet** on the wallet card.
3. Connect your new wallet and sign the verification message.
4. You’ll see “*Wallet changed successfully*” - “Withdrawal address has been updated to your new connected wallet.”

The new wallet is immediately active for all future external withdrawals. NodeLink keeps a history of your wallet connections.

## Messages and What They Mean

<table data-search="false"><thead><tr><th>Message</th><th>What It Means</th><th>What to Do</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><em>“No wallet connected. Connect a wallet to enable external withdrawals.”</em></td><td>No wallet has been linked yet.</td><td>Tap <strong>Connect Wallet</strong> on My Wallet.</td></tr><tr><td><em>“Connect Wallet Required”</em></td><td>You tried to withdraw before connecting a wallet.</td><td>Tap <strong>Go to My Wallet</strong>, connect, then return.</td></tr><tr><td><em>“Wallet connected successfully”</em></td><td>Your wallet is linked and ready.</td><td>Nothing - you’re set to withdraw.</td></tr><tr><td><em>“Wallet changed successfully”</em></td><td>You’ve switched to a new wallet.</td><td>Confirm it’s the address you intend to use.</td></tr><tr><td><em>“Withdrawal address must match your connected wallet”</em></td><td>Destination doesn’t match your linked wallet.</td><td>Re-connect the correct wallet on My Wallet.</td></tr><tr><td><em>“Failed to connect wallet. Please try again.”</em></td><td>Connection or signature didn’t complete.</td><td>Retry and approve the signature prompt in your wallet app.</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Frequently Asked Questions

#### Q: Does connecting my wallet cost anything?

No. Connecting and signing the verification message are free — no gas, no transaction. No funds move during setup.

#### Q: Can NodeLink access or move funds from my connected wallet?

No. Connecting your wallet only shares your public address so NodeLink knows where to send your withdrawals. The signature proves ownership; it does not grant any spending access to your wallet.

#### Q: Why can’t I type in an address like before?

Locking the address field removes the risk of sending to a wrong or malicious address — the entire point of the upgrade. To change your destination, connect a different wallet on the My Wallet page.

#### Q: Which wallets and networks are supported?

MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet.

#### Q: Do I need to reconnect my wallet every time I log in?

No. Your connected wallet is saved. You’ll only be prompted to sign again if you connect a different wallet.

#### Q: Have my fees, limits, or processing time changed?

No. Fees, commissions, withdrawal limits, OTP verification, and processing time (up to 72 hours) are all unchanged.

#### Q: Does this affect my deposits, swaps, or transfers to other NodeLink members?

No. This change only applies to external withdrawals. Deposits, swaps, and internal transfers by NID are unaffected.
